The first time I was on a plane I was nine years old, crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Africa. For me as crazy as that might sound but what I felt at that time was great, that feeling of eagerness the excitement of exploring the unknown, being completely out of your comfort zone. I literally felt bubbles in my belly. Now twenty years later, I still and probably forever feel the same excitement as I did when I was nine. Traveling is food for your soul. Out of all my trips, the most memorable and inspiring for me was going back home to Eritrea, located on the horn of Africa.
When we step out of our comfort zone and explore what the world, that is the best therapy one can gift themselves. Traveling opens your eyes, it helps you learn who you really are, but most importantly it helps you develop skills you didn’t know you had and challenges you in way you could of never imagine. Now most people will argue that traveling is a luxury they can’t afford. I beg to disagree, if you want it bad you can make it happen. There is some method of cutting your cost, such as back packing instead of staying at hotels, or maybe Airbnb. You can travel with groups that will cut accommodation cost, or even book your ticket ahead of time. Also, there are some site such as YYZdeals (if you’re from Toronto, Canada) that have a lot of discounted destination, and if didn’t know now you know. Don’t forget also, you don’t have to travel across the ocean you can kept it low key and travel across the state/province or even to another city. In all, I think the minute we leave what we call home and see the rest of the world, that is the exact moment you’re literally feeding your soul and mind. I encourage everyone to take a trip at least once a year, make it happen you owe it to yourself. I guarantee you that the “you” in ten or twenty years will thank you!
